A new era of single cell CRISPR screens

Single cell pooled CRISPR screens enable analysis of complex phenotypes by linking individual gene perturbations with gene expression profiles. This approach has been used for target validation in drug discovery, to understand differences in treatment responses, and map pathways involved in cell differentiation. Wider adoption of this approach has been constrained by the feasibility and high cost of processing sufficient cells for libraries containing more than a few hundred guide RNAs (sgRNAs).
